About Our Church
Who We Are
Bald Eagle Baptist church is an intergenerational congregation of believers who seek to glorify God through living by faith and professing God’s word.
Greetings, from the beautiful Bald Eagle Valley, just west of State College, Pennsylvania. In our little corner of the world, we seek to glorify the only true God by worshiping Him, proclaiming the Gospel of His crucified and risen Son, Jesus Christ, and living a life pleasing to Him until He returns. Furthermore, we minister to those in need, seek to proclaim the message of Christ’s salvation to the lost, and fellowship in love and brotherhood as brothers and sisters in Him.
If you ever pass through our area, or live in our area and are interested in finding a church home, we hope you will stop by and see us. In the meantime, check out the web page, and take time to get to know us a bit. We hope this page will give you a little taste of who we are, as well as be informative and edifying.
May God Bless!

Our History
Bald Eagle Baptist Church, Founded 1835
“Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name;
worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness.”
Psalm 29:2
Today, nearly two centuries after its founding, Bald Eagle Baptist Church and its congregation continue the legacy of those who came before them, faithfully serving as a beacon of the Gospel and a place of worship, fellowship, and community for the surrounding areas of Port Matilda, Julian, and State College, Pennsylvania.
On November 28, 1835, a group of believers in Huston Township, Pennsylvania, came together to organize and establish Bald Eagle Baptist Church. During its early years, the congregation did not have a building of its own and gathered for worship in various shared facilities in Milesburg, Pennsylvania, approximately 14 miles from the church’s present location.
In 1868, the congregation began construction of its first church building on the very land where the church stands today. The two-story structure, built at a cost of $4,000, along with donated labor, was officially dedicated on August 20, 1871.
Over the years, the building underwent several renovations to accommodate the growing needs of the congregation. In 1904, the second-floor sanctuary was lowered to create a one-story structure, and the exterior was encased in brick. Additional rooms were added to the upper portion of the building in 1946, followed by further additions to the rear in the 1970s.
